This exhibition will open to the public, both in the OML Gallery and online, on 16 October 2014. It will comprise 36 manuscript (and some printed) maps, from Europe, North America, and Asia, from the sixteenth through the twentieth centuries.
The exhibition opening on 16 October 2014 will feature a public lecture by the curator, Prof. Matthew Edney, USM's Osher Professor in the History of Cartography. The lecture, at 6:30pm, follows a 6pm exhibition, at the Sam L. Cohen Educational Center of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education, on the USM campus, situated at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Bedford Street in Portland.
