Historical Context: Francis Miller conducted the detailed surveys for the road system of Massachusetts, in 1765-66, and initially drew them up on multiple sheets and from those he produced smaller, less unwieldy general maps (usually on 3 sheets) of the various sections of the Massachusetts road system, e.g. Boston to Albany, and Boston to Penobscot Bay.
