Brief Description: Pictorial map showing songs associated with each state, and including bars of music for each song cited. Border includes indexed illustrations including musical instruments. Dorothea Dix Lawrence was a successful soprano opera singer in the 1930's and 1940's. She became a leading champion and scholar of American folk music. This map was copyrighted in 1946 and was widely distributed in American schools. She published her songs in the book "Folklore Songs of the United States" and gave lectures throughout the United States and Mexico using the map.
