Brief Description: Levittown was a planned community primarily for returning WWII veterans between 1947 and 1951. Founded by Abraham Levitt in 1929, sons William and Alfred were the company's president, chief architect and planner respectively. Levittown was the first mass-produced suburb and the one in New York was the first. The company would build at least six more including one in Pennsylvania. Levittown was designed to provide affordable housing and represented the "American Dream" of owning a house.Map includes index to Levittown streets, parks and pools, churches and synagogues. A key with symbols on the map indicate Levitt-built parks, schools, hospitals, railroad. The suburb is highlighted in dark green separating it from other towns.
