Brief Description: Map was to accompany a report for the Maine Legislature on the creation of the park. Key indicates locations of the Maine Forest Fire Station, roads, trails, public lots, proposed Katahdin area. Area outlined in white is by order of state legislature. The park was established on March 3, 1931 and named after the donor and governor of Maine, Percival P. Baxter. Katahdin consists of a cluster of mountains and is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.
