Brief Description: Lithographic bird's eye view by Charles Magnus of Harewood Hospital, operated by the United States during the American Civil War from September 4, 1862, to May 5, 1866. Harewood was a pavillion-style hospital containing nine wards and later expanding to close to 2000 beds.Charles Magnus was an illustrator, stationer, bookseller and map and print publisher based in New York City. Through political connections he was given access to Union military camps, illustrating views of Civil War cities, events and personages of the time period. He was considered the most prolific American printer of lithographs and broadsides.
