Brief Description: Facsimile map originally from 1854 approximately at the time of the Crimean War. It is based on documents from the newspaper Pilote du Calvados published from 1830 to 1857. An illustration of Constantinople within the area of the Black Sea also shows the empires of Russia and the Ottomans. The Crimean War was fought from 1853 to 1856 involving Russia, Britain, France, the Ottoman Empire and Sardinia. The main cause involved the rights of Christian minorities in the Holy Land which is part of the Ottoman Empire.
