Historical Context: Lloyd Bahr's manuscript "magazine" contains essays such as "What will it be 20 years from now?'' and "Where is Der Fuhrer?". "The Blaze" was written about four days after the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge when the German forces launched a surprise attack on Allied forces in the Ardennes in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
