A.L.S. by Moses Greenlead to Daniel Dewey regarding a payment for land purchased by Dewey. Greenleaf also discusses details about a plan to construct a road to Quebec. Other details concern property values and concerns for land settlement. At the time of the letter, Williamsburg township was owned by William Dodd whose agent was Greenleaf. Daniel Dewey was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts's 12th district. He was also treasurer of Williams College. In 1814 the Massachusetts governor appointed Dewey as an associate judge of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and served until his death on may 26, 1815.
