Brief Description: Hand colored lithograph depicting a parade in the city of Baltimore celebrating the passage of the fifteenth amendment on March 30, 1870. The amendment granted African-American men the right to vote. The parade lasted five hours and was a mile long and drew over 20,000 spectators. The lithograph depicts parade floats, black troops and freemasons and vignettes that include bust portraits of President Ulysses S. Grant, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln and Mississippi senator Hiram Revels. All rights are granted and represented in scenes showing education equality, religious freedom, marriage rights, the family united in freedom.
