The surveys indicate that "land taken by execution" is defined as "a judicial writ directing the enforcement of a judgement". Names on the surveys include Joseph Bragdon, Daniel Knight, William Tetherly, William W. Fernald, Thomas and/or Richard Cutts, John Bradbury, Jonathan Nowell, Daniel Bragdon, Daniel Sewall, Samuel Junkins, Samuel McIntire versus Arthur Came, William Traft or Trafton, Tobias Trafton, Col. John Littlefield, Timothy Frost, Timothy Ferguson, Samuel Sewall. Also included is Esaias Preble, Stephen Pauls, Jeremiah Moulton and Caleb Preble. Included are lands owned by Joseph Moody and Joseph Moulton and land mortgaged by Jonathan Sayward.  Some of the surveys indicate land disputes such as "Widow Goodwin's land taken by execution from Caleb Preble, July, 1785". Due to the contents of the collection it is assumed that these surveys may have been in the possession of a lawyer.
