Brief Description: Map by Elmer Simms Campbell, the first African-American cartoonist to publish in periodicals such as Esquire and the New Yorker. Included is an article that accompanied the map by Ted Shane in Esquire magazine published on July,1940. It was critical of local cuisines across the United States which includes "Hollywood awful food and phooey salads" and the midwest designated "Bicarbonate Desert".
