Brief Description: Includes table of distances, routes to the newly discovered gold fields in California in the wake of the discovery at Sutter's Mill. Also included are maritime routes illustrating passages through Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama. Also featured is an engraved view of Pyramid Lake located in Nevada which was discovered by the John C. Fremont expedition in 1844. Included are the borders of Texas which were in dispute with Mexico and ultimately brought about the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. Inset maps of the gold region of California and South America.
