Brief Description: Bird's eye view of two towns on the Kennebec River. Gardiner, named after its founder Dr. Silvester Gardiner was known as a center for shipbuilding and later as an exporter of Kennebec ice. A numbered and lettered legend indicates where to locate schools, churches and other buildings. A faint red line indicates the outline of a fire in 1882 which later led to the establishment of municipal water service.
