Most of the lots were deeded to family members but the widow Stanley, wife of John Stanley was deeded 100 acres by Madame de Gregoire who had been awarded the eastern half of Mount Desert Island by her grandfather the Sieur de Cadillac. Great Cranberry Island is part of Hancock County.
