Illustration in the April 25, 1918 Boston Post issue depicting the sinking of the RMS Lusitania. A German U-Boat torpedoed the ocean liner on May 7, 1915. The sinking contributed to the United States entering the World War I in 1917. The images of the sinking ship were used for propaganda purposes and military recruiting. Text below the image asks for people to buy Liberty Bonds for the war effort. One hundred and twenty-eight Americans died on the vessel including millionaire Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt.

Historical Context: The RMS Lusitania ocean liner was sunk by a German U-Boat in 1915. The vessel was also carrying armaments which was Germany's justification for sinking the liner.
