Brief Description: Silkscreen poster by artist René Golschmann promoting the sale of war bonds with imagery to elicit an emotional response. Included is an eagle , its wings spread over sheaves of wheat and below a red menancing octupus with a Nazi swatiska spreading the regime across Europe. René Golschmann and his family fled Russia during the pogroms of the 1890's and came to Paris, France. When the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939, Golschmann was conscripted into the French army. Throughout the war he experienced hardships and constant terror but with the help of his brother he was able to escape France in 1941 and arrived in New York City in September of that year. The poster was his way to show his appreciation for the United States and the help he and his family received.
