Notes: Harris, C. J. (Colonel Johnson) (1856-1921), president of the Cherokee Senate 1883-1885 and principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation 1892-1894, approved the report in December of 1894.
Brief Description: Legislation awarding the Cherokee Nation moneys due in compliance with the Act of Congress approved March 3, 1893. Included are two colored outlined maps showing the treaties from 1817 to 1866 which show how lands were allotted to tribal nations. From 1773 to 1866 treaties reduced the Cherokee's landholdings which freed the land for white settlement and speculation.
