It was organized by Henry Cole and Prince Albert, consort and husband of Queen Victoria. The exhibition ran from May 1 to October 15, 1851. It was a way to promote and prove Britain's  superiority and to show that technology was key to a better future. Miscroscopes, air pumps, electric telegraphs were some of the innovations on display.
