Brief Description: The 92nd Infantry Division fought in World War II in the Italian Campaign from 1944 to the end of the war in 1945. The newspaper was published "somewhere in Italy" and was the official publication of the Buffalo Soldiers who were a segregated military division composed primarily of African-Americans. The weekly newspaper kept the soldiers informed with entertaining and educational columns bolstering the confidence and morale and keeping a record of their experiences. The American buffalo was the selected insignia which was the nickname of 19th century African-American cavalrymen.

Historical Context: One of six issues of The Buffalo, an official newspaper for the 92nd Infantry Division contains stories of bravery, cartoons, helpful tips and other content to boost morale. The publication ran for three years publishing more than 150 issues. From late 1942 through 1944 the newsletter was published at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where the 92nd were stationed.
