Brief Description: The print illustrates the July 4th, 1866 fire in Portland ignited by a firecracker in wood shavings. The fire destroyed at least thirty streets including structures in the city. John Henry Bufford was a 19th century lithographer from Boston. Throughout his career he produced city and marine views, landscapes, book illustrations and other genre views.
