Brief Description: View of Zschopau, Germany from Civitates Orbis Terrarum. View shows the city of Augsburg to the right and road marked with the letter "D" leading to and from Prague. Prominent in the view is the castle built in the mid-12th century with the town of Zschopau around it. The castle protected the Salt Road, a trade route transporting salt to regions that needed it. Zschopau is situated in the district of Saxony. Cartouche on the right labels the roads, the towns and shows people walking and conversing. Civitates Orbis Terrarum was a collection of about 542 birds-eye views of cities around the world. The views were engraved by Frans Hogenberg, illustrated by Joris Hoefnagel and edited by Georg Braun.
