Brief Description: Manuscript wall map with handwritten notations about lands and peoples. Included is a remark about the conversion of natives to Christianity possibly referring to the Pacific Islands and missionaries: "The natives were formerly pagans and they sacrificed human beings to their gods. But they have destroyed them and received Crhistian missionaries many have been taught to read and write and numbers have embraced Christianity." The remark was handwritten near the map location of Polynesia which was christianized by several religious groups starting in 1797 with the London Missionary Society. They were followed by Catholic missionaries in 1841 and Mormons in 1843.
