Notes:Approximate date is given. It shows the opening of Yokohama Port to the West with the arrival of Admiral Perry in Uraga in 1853. Trading began in Yokohama in 1859. Since Japan concluded a treaty with the Netherlands, Russia, England and France, the ships from these countries are represented in the panorama. Illustrations include the different types of dwellings: white houses are for people of higher status such as magistrates; pink buildings are temples; blue represents people from overseas and bridges; red is for villages and towns, mountains and forests; yellow is for rivers and hills.
