Brief Description: Stereotyped and wood-engraved. William Bicknell, Jr. was a long-time educator in the Hartford, Me. school district. He designed and published educational materials such as this geographical chart. The chart consists of columns of text including the Constitution of the United States, descriptions of the five continents and maps of the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The chart includes three wedge-shaped cutouts through which are viewed three volvelles or wheel charts containing geographical and statistical data. The largest volvelle can be viewed through the upper cutout which describes 27 states and the two smaller volvelles address the other countries of the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.
