Brief Description: Illustrated guidebook for the cities of Bruges and Ypres featuring advertisements for hotels, historic sites and coastal recreational areas. Includes a map of the coast of Belgium.

Historical Context: Ypres was heavily damaged during World War One and was the site of the Battle of Passachendaele fought from July 31 to November 1917. Ypres was rebuilt using German reparation money which included the rebuilding of the Cloth Hall and town hall close to the original designs. Bruges was occupied by the Germans and suffered little damage. It was liberated on October 19, 1918 by the Allies.
