Notes: Two-sided color-printed mechanical wheel chart, consisting of three paper wheels or volvelles that can be moved to reveal facts about the first 31 presidents of the United States (on the recto side) and the first 48 states and the District of Columbia (on the verso side). The outer wheel (25 cm.) is sandwiched between two smaller, inner wheels (each 22 cm.), with a circular metal fastener inserted at the center of the wheels. The windows on the recto side of the chart reveal the following information about each president listed on the edge of the outer wheel: age on taking office; date of birth; date inaugurated; political party; residence; important events; date of death; and an engraved portrait in profile. The windows on the verso side of the chart reveal the following facts about each state and the District of Columbia listed on the edge of the outer wheel: square miles of state; state population; highest elevation in feet; principal river; state capital population; date on joining the union; principal city population; and rank in population.
