Brief Description: The survey book was owned by York County, Maine resident Jeremiah Goodwin who may have been preparing himself to be the Register of Deeds for York County between 1816 and 1836. His bookplate and signature appear throughout the book. Included is his handwritten index, notes on calculations and notations on four engraved plates featuring geometric figures and his own technical notes. Goodwin was also active in politics and became Maine State Treasurer in 1839. Before that he participated in the War of 1812 in the U.S. Army and was later the postmaster of Alfred, Maine between 1812 and 1836.
