Brief Description: Souvenir booklet published by Alfred S. Amer & Co. Ltd., proprietors of the Hotel St. Charles. The St. Charles Hotel opened in 1837. It was destroyed by fire twice and rebuilt until it was purchased by Sheraton Hotels in 1959. This building was demolished in 1974 and in 1984 the Place St. Charles was erected in the vacant lot. Guide includes a history of the St. Charles, colored illustrations and photo images of historic sites and scenes from Mardi Gras.
