Notes: Manuscript probate of Sir Francis Bernard's will which includes the embossed seal of the mayor of London, Thomas Wright and the wax seal of the mayor of the city of Lincoln, Henry Swan. Included are the signatures of the executors Charles White and Thomas Bernard and Bernard's clerk, Thomas Capel. Sir Francis Bernard's will stipulated the administration of the land grant of Mount Desert Island, Maine with the proviso that his eldest son John Bernard be allowed the use of the land.
