Brief Description: Ten postcards from the Exposition Coloniale Internationale, Exposition de Clermont-Ferrand and the Exposition de Bruxelles, dated from 1906 to 1931. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, France opened expositions displaying its colonial wealth represented by peoples of Equatorial Africa and the French West Indies. Displays of art, dance, daily life, women's activities exposed Europeans and in particular the French to the populations of France's colonial empire. The 1931 Exposition Coloniale Internationale was a six month exposition held in Paris and also displayed France's colonial possessions.
