"Jerry's Map" is an incredible project by Jerry Gretzinger, who has been making a map of his own world for some thirty years [video]. He has just announced that the map will be installed at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, Brattleboro, Vt., from November 1, 2013 to March 4, 2014. I sense a road trip coming on!
The map began as a doodle and has taken on a life of its own. This image, that Mr. Gretzinger just posted on his blog, Jerry's Map, is of sheet North 1 West 16:
I was fortunate enough to see its first complete installation, at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art last October. Here's a shot of most of the map, some fifty feet (15.25m) across, composed of hundreds of pieces each slightly smaller than letter-size paper:
And here's Mr. Gretzinger viewing his creation:
See it if you can!
