We offer a variety of professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers during the summer months.

Graphic Novels Discussion Group

Educators of grades 5-12 are invited to reserve their place in our Summer Book Discussion Group (limited to 25 participants). We will meet over Zoom in three evening sessions to discuss ways to integrate graphic novels into Social Studies and English Language Arts curriculum. The three sessions will start in August on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

Teaching with Maps Summer Fellowship

Open to Middle and High School teachers looking to integrate maps into their curriculum, this paid fellowship will provide teachers with the time, skills, and access to cartographic primary resources necessary to conduct original research and develop programming for their classrooms.
– Applications due: June 15th
– Stipend Amount: $500

Sense of Place and Mapmaking
Are you a K-12 Educator interested in introducing cartography into the classroom? Join us for a day-long intensive mapmaking workshop with artist and geographer Molly Brown of MollyMaps. Date TBD.
This event will be held in-person in the Cohen Educational Center, and materials and lunch will be provided.
Registration is free, and this workshop is limited to 20 participants.
