Historical Context: The map 'Guerrilla acts of sabotage and terrorism in the United States 1965-1970' was originally published in Scanlon's Monthly. Scanlon's was a short lived monthly publication running from March 1970 - January 1971. It was subjected to investigation by the FBI during this time and was known for its politically charged articles. Many publishers refused to publish the issue 'Guerrilla Wars' as they thought it promoted domestic terrorism. The original map was published with a 25 page table listing nearly 1,400 specific 'guerrilla' events. Part 5 of that table which covers March 22, 1970 - Sept. 7, 1970 is seen in the Black Panther publication. The events are described using symbols. The first symbol is the target of the attack, (government building, corporation, home, high school or elementary school, college, police, or military). Second symbol represents the method, (sniping, bomb or dynamite, time bomb, arson, Molotov cocktail, and terrorism)
