Battle of Nashville

Historical Context: This battle and many more were fought during the American Civil War from April 12, 1861 to May 26, 1865. The main conflict that provoked the conflict was slavery. When Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, several southern states  seceded and after the outbreak of war more followed led by Confederate president Jefferson Davis. 
The war ended with the Confederate surrender on April 9, 1865.
