Manufacturers have adapted the outline map of the U.S.A. to a variety of clothing as well as accessories one can wear and use, such as key rings, belt buckles, and jewelry. Cuff links and tie clips are a favorite gift to bestow on campaign supporters. Political pins are smaller versions of political buttons: they commemorate both political conventions and special events like victory celebrations. The most popular design is the American Flag, often as a variation on the map theme. Pins also promote a particular cause or product, such as the “United We Stand” pins after 9/11. In the original installation, from the case of pins there hung a mud flap produced for the Wabash National Corporation whose semi-trailer trucks criss-cross North America bearing the ushapia logo.
